ISLAMABAD: Warning that future wars will be decided more by technology than sheer force, COAS & CDF Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday said the Pakistan Armed Forces are rapidly transforming across multiple domains to meet emerging battlefield and security challenges, as he witnessed a high-intensity multi-domain field exercise during his visit to Bahawalpur Garrison.
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief was briefed on various operational, training and administrative aspects of the Corps, with particular emphasis on preparedness for multi-domain warfare.
During the visit, Pakistan army chief observed Exercise Steadfast Resolve at Khairpur Tamewali (KPT), which demonstrated the integration of niche technologies, including unmanned aerial systems, advanced surveillance assets, electronic warfare capabilities and modern command-and-control mechanisms, reflecting the armed forces’ focus on technology-enabled, multi-domain operations.Addressing the troops, the COAS & CDF lauded their high morale, professional competence and operational preparedness, and reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against all threats.
He stressed the importance of maintaining optimum readiness to effectively respond to future battlefield and security requirements.
He further highlighted that the character of war has evolved significantly due to rapid technological advancements, necessitating a fundamental mental and operational shift at all levels.
In future conflicts, he noted, technological manoeuvres would increasingly replace physical manoeuvres, fundamentally altering the conduct of both offensive and defensive operations. He added that innovation, indigenisation and adaptability would remain central to the armed forces’ ongoing transformation.
Earlier, the army chief inaugurated the ROHI eSkills Learning Hub (STP), aimed at promoting digital skills and learning opportunities, particularly for students from Southern Punjab and across the country. He also inaugurated the APS Abbasia Campus, reaffirming the Pakistan Army’s commitment to quality education and character building.
The COAS & CDF also visited the EME Regional Workshop, where he was briefed on maintenance regimes designed to sustain modern military platforms through advanced technologies, indigenisation and other combat support measures.
Upon his arrival at Bahawalpur Garrison, he was received by the Corps Commander and later laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada, offering fateha and paying tribute to the supreme sacrifices of the martyrs.
