Haris Rauf dropped as Pakistan name T20 World Cup squad
- Khawaja Nafay and Usman Tariq make the cut
Pakistan have dropped fast bowler Haris Rauf as they named a 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, with Salman Ali Agha continued as captain.
The squad was announced at a press conference at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, addressed by PCB Director High Performance and men’s national selection committee member Aqib Javed, Pakistan’s T20I captain Salman Ali Agha, and white-ball head coach Michael James Hesson on Sunday morning.
Captain Salman Ali Agha, along with Faheem Ashraf, Khawaja Mohammad Nafay, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Sahibzada Farhan, and Usman Tariq, earned their maiden call-ups for a global event.
Meanwhile, Abrar Ahmed, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Saim Ayub, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shadab Khan, and Usman Khan have featured in one or more editions of the tournament since 2021.
The 20-team tournament will see each side play four group matches before progressing to the Super Eight and knockout stages, scheduled from February 7 to March 8.
As part of their preparations, Pakistan will host Australia in a three-match T20I series at Gaddafi Stadium on January 29, 31, and February 1, with the training camp beginning today.
