LAHORE: A delegation of the Lahore Township Industrial Association (LTIA) met LCCI President Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol. LCCI Senior Vice President Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh and Vice President Khurram Lodhi were also present.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss in detail the administrative, financial, and operational issues faced by industries in Lahore Township, especially in the Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate.

The delegation was led by LTIA Chairman Osama Ali Arif, while Senior Vice Chairman Syed Fawad Tariq Jafri was also part of the delegation. Other members included Abdullah Mughal, Muhammad Adeel Bhutta, Wasim Chawla, Hamid Latif, Mian Khurram Ilyas, Azam Chaudhry, Hafiz Shabbir, Tayyab Amir Khan, Abdullah Chawla, Zafar Qidvi, Muhammad Zahid, Zahid Mahmood, Shiraz Khalid, and Anas Shafiq, representing industrialists from different sectors.

During the meeting, the delegation informed the LCCI leadership that industrial units in the Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate are already facing economic slowdown, high energy costs, expensive loans, and heavy duties on raw materials. In this situation, repeated notices issued by different government departments are creating serious concern for industrialists.

The delegation said that some notices are issued without considering ground realities, which is affecting industrial activity and putting jobs at risk.

The delegation asked LCCI to play a leading role in this matter, improve coordination with relevant departments, and strongly present the case of industrialists at the government level to provide relief. They also stressed that instead of issuing notices, corrective and facilitative policies should be adopted so that industries can operate smoothly and continue contributing to the national economy.

Speaking on the occasion, LCCI President Faheem Ur Rehman Saigol said that the Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate is one of the most important industrial estates not only in Lahore but in the entire country, and it makes a significant contribution to exports, tax revenue, and the national economy.

He said that LCCI, along with Senior Vice President Tanveer Ahmed Sheikh and Vice President Khurram Lodhi, will strongly raise the genuine issues of industrialists at every relevant forum and will not leave the business community alone.

The LCCI President further said that keeping industries running is the need of the hour, because if the industrial wheel stops, the economy will come under more pressure.

He assured that LCCI will remain in constant contact with the government, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to find sustainable solutions to the problems of the Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Estate and all other industrial areas.
