LAHORE: Enforcement teams of Punjab Food Authority on Tuesday carried out strict operations across Lahore against traders involved in the sale of substandard and adulterated food. During the crackdown, 7,250kg of diseased chickens, more than one maund of adulterated milk and prohibited items were discarded. An FIR was registered and accused was arrested.
Food safety teams set up early-morning checkpoints at Tollinton Market, where 64 suppliers and shops were inspected, and 132,000kg of poultry was thoroughly checked to ensure compliance with meat safety SOPs.
Director General PFA Asim Javaid releasing the details to media said that a dairy shop in Sabzazar was sealed after a milk sample failed laboratory testing. He said that adulterated milk was discarded immediately, an FIR was registered, and the accused was arrested from the spot.
