KARACHI: The Department of Computer Science & Information Technology of Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology held the closing ceremony for the inter-university Speed Mind Execution Competition (SMEC’26).

This event aimed to provide a platform for talented students to demonstrate their mental agility in a competitive environment. Participants from various universities across Karachi took part, with Chancellor SSUET, Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan serving as the Chief Guest and Shaikh Rashid Alam of Brand Foundation, as the Guest of Honour.

Addressing the ceremony, Chancellor of Sir Syed University, Akbar Ali Khan, said that the Speed Mind Execution Competition (SMEC’26) has not only been a showcase of intellectual prowess but also a celebration of creativity, collaboration, and the relentless pursuit of knowledge. The Speed Mind Execution Competition was designed to challenge our students to think critically and act swiftly, pushing the boundaries of their mental capabilities. In a world that is rapidly evolving, the ability to adapt and innovate is more crucial than ever. This competition has provided a platform for our young minds to showcase their skills, engage in healthy competition, and learn from one another.

In his address, the Chief Guest, CEO of the Brand Foundation, Shaikh Rashid Alam said that it is not just about acquiring knowledge; it is about applying that knowledge to solve real-world problems. The skills you have honed during this competition will serve you well in your future endeavours, whether in academia, industry, or beyond.

CEO of Trend Micro, Umair Shaikh, highlighted that SMAC offers students a valuable platform to showcase and test their skills. He underscored the significance of cyber security, emphasizing that it transcends mere employment—it’s a responsibility that everyone should take seriously.

Chairperson of the Computer Science & IT Department, Dr. Kashif Shaikh, encouraged students to view challenges as opportunities for learning and growth. He noted that events like these are essential in fostering a spirit of innovation and collaboration among students from various universities.
