Faisalabad traders assure Punjab govt of supplying pulses at ex-mill rates in Ramazan

LAHORE: Traders from the Faisalabad Grain Market have assured the Punjab government that they will supply pulses at ex-mill rates during the holy month of Ramazan, as the provincial administration steps up efforts to ensure price stability and uninterrupted availability of essential food items for consumers.

The assurance was given during a meeting between Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Salma Butt and a delegation of Faisalabad grain market traders. The meeting reviewed arrangements for the supply, pricing and quality of pulses at Model Bazaars, Sahulat Bazaars, “Sahulat on the Go” outlets and Ramazan Bazaars across Punjab.

Speaking on the occasion, Salma Butt said the Punjab government was taking all possible measures to provide maximum relief to low-income consumers during Ramazan. She said the government was committed to ensuring that essential food items were available at affordable prices through an effective supply mechanism.

President Faisalabad Grain Market Mian Aslam said that traders would supply pulses at ex-mill rates during Ramazan and ensure availability in both major cities and smaller towns across all districts of the province throughout the sacred month.

Salma Butt said the supply of pulses at government-run outlets would be carried out through registered vendors only to maintain transparency, quality standards and price discipline. She warned that no compromise would be allowed on the quality or pricing of food items during Ramazan.

She further said that food authority officials would be deployed at all Model Bazaars, Sahulat on the Go, Sahulat and Ramazan Bazaars to monitor quality and enforce compliance. Ahead of Ramazan, representatives of deputy commissioners and officers of the Food Safety and Consumer Protection Department in all districts will work as joint teams to ensure effective implementation of government directives.
