LAHORE: Pakistan has earned international acclaim by winning the Best Mixed Weaving Technique Design Award at the ICFE Carpet and Floor Coverings Fair 2026, held in Turkiye, one of the world’s most prestigious exhibitions for carpet and flooring design.
The award was presented to renowned Pakistani carpet designer Sikanderain Hassan, Founder and Creative Director of “Red Inc” and “Tarkhanom Home”. This achievement marks Hassan’s second consecutive win at ICFE, underscoring the consistent global recognition of Pakistan’s craftsmanship and design excellence in carpet making.
The winning entry, titled “Fractured Harmony” was lauded for its innovative and layered design, which masterfully blends flat weave, sumak, and raised-and-cut pile techniques. Fully handcrafted, the carpet features hand-spun wool and jute, with select fibers intentionally left undyed in their natural state. Through striking contrasts in texture, form, and material, the piece artistically explores the tension between fragmentation and renewal.
