Rain played spoilsport in the Pakistan tour of Sri Lanka as the second Twenty20 International at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium was abandoned due to persistent downpours on Friday evening.
Persistent rain delayed the toss and ultimately forced officials to call off play without a ball being bowled, bringing a premature end to the much-anticipated clash.
The weather conditions deteriorated through the evening, leaving the outfield waterlogged and the entire ground under covers as groundstaff battled the conditions in vain.
Pakistan go into the third and final T20I leading the three-match series 1-0 after a convincing six-wicket win in the series opener at the same venue earlier in the week.

In that match, Pakistan restricted Sri Lanka to 128 and chased the target down with overs to spare to take an early advantage in the series.

The final T20I is scheduled to take place on Sunday, with both teams hoping for a full game to decide the series.
