KARACHI: Karachi’s water supply network is set to receive a major boost as the Karachi Water Sewerage Services Improvement Project (KWSSIP) moves into its final phase.
A new mild steel water transmission pipeline has been placed along the Old Pipri main. Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation’s statement said that the new pipeline is designed to improve the efficiency and reliability of water distribution across the city.
For bringing the line fully online, interconnection work and valve installations are required, prompting scheduled maintenance at the Old Pipri Pumping Station.
As a result, water supply from the Old Pipri station will remain suspended for four days, from Saturday, January 10, to Tuesday, January 13.
Authorities clarified that the New Pipri Pumping Station will continue operations during this period, ensuring uninterrupted supply from that source.
KW&SC officials acknowledged that residents in parts of Malir Town, Shah Faisal Town, Model Colony, SPL, and PIA may experience temporary disruptions.
Operations at the Landhi and Sherpao hydrants will also remain suspended during maintenance.
The shutdown is expected to reduce the city’s daily water supply by approximately 60 million gallons, lowering output from 650 million gallons per day to around 590 million gallons.
