ISLAMABAD: Customs authorities on Sunday claimed to have confiscated smuggled goods and carrier vehicles collectively valued at Rs51.8 million in a major series of enforcement actions conducted by the Customs Enforcement Division in Dera Ismail Khan.
In one significant interception, officials from the Peshawar Collectorate of Customs Enforcement stopped two Bedford trucks and a Toyota Altis GLI car. The search of the conveyances revealed illicit consignments of smuggled tyres, medicines, and cigarettes of various brands.
The combined market value of the seized merchandise and the impounded vehicles is estimated at Rs48.8 million.
During a separate operation, enforcement teams recovered additional contraband items from different passenger buses. The recovered goods included cigarette paper, cigarettes, Teflon rods, and other miscellaneous items, with an approximate market value of Rs3 million.
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) affirmed that these seizures were part of its ongoing commitment to curb smuggling. The agency reiterated its dedication to protecting legitimate trade and safeguarding the national economy through effective enforcement measures.
