ISLAMABAD: The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a virtual meeting via Zoom to discuss the promotion of bilateral trade, strengthening commercial ties, and addressing business issues affected by recent border tensions.

The meeting was attended by FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of Afghanistan Chamber Alokozai, President Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry Muhammad Ayub Marriani, Patron-in-Chief United Business Group S.M. Tanvir, President Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce Jawad Hussain Kazmi, FPCCI Vice President Ashfaq Ahmed, President Waziristan Chamber Haji Qadirullah Wazir, President Kurram Chamber Ali Ahmed, President Mohmand Chamber Amir Muhammad, along with presidents and representatives of various chambers of commerce from across Pakistan.

During the meeting, participants held detailed discussions on the restoration of Pakistan-Afghanistan bilateral trade, challenges faced by traders, and the removal of trade barriers. The participants emphasized the need to resolve issues hampering cross-border trade and to facilitate business activities between the two neighbouring countries.

The primary objective of the meeting was to revive trade activities adversely affected by recent regional developments, formulate a joint strategy through mutual consultation, and find sustainable solutions to issues confronting cross-border trade. Both sides agreed to continue coordination and dialogue to promote economic cooperation and ensure smoother trade relations in the future.
