Army officer martyred: Security forces kill 5 militants in Bajaur IBO
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s security forces killed five militants during an intelligence-based operation in Bajaur district on Monday, while a Pakistan Army officer embraced martyrdom during an intense exchange of fire.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations, the operation was carried out on December 29 in the general area of Khar, Bajaur district, on the reported presence of militants affiliated with Indian proxy outfit Fitna al Khawarij. The ISPR said troops effectively engaged the militants’ hideout, resulting in the killing of five Indian-sponsored operatives.
However, during the operation, Major Adeel Zaman (36), a resident of Dera Ismail Khan district, was martyred while leading his troops from the front. The officer fought gallantly and made the ultimate sacrifice.
Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed militants, who, according to ISPR, were involved in multiple terrorist activities against security forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians.
The ISPR said sanitization operations are underway to eliminate any remaining militants in the area.
