IK’s release: PTI launches province-wide street movement in Sindh

KARACHI: The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday launched a province-wide street movement across Sindh on the directive of its founder, Imran Khan.

This was informed by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Sindh president Haleem Adil Sheikh in a statement on Sunday. The public outreach campaign was formally launched in Karachi, where party leaders distributed pamphlets to mobilise citizens for what they term a peaceful democratic struggle.

The movement’s declared objectives are to secure the release of Imran Khan and other incarcerated political leaders, restore what the party describes as its “stolen public mandate,” ensure the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law, and bring an end to inflation.

Addressing the media, Sheikh contended that the country was experiencing “excessive oppression, injustice and fascism,” leaving no option but to protest. He affirmed that the PTI leadership would engage with people in every part of the province to raise awareness about their constitutional rights.

Sheikh alleged that the public’s decision was subverted in the February 8 general elections. He claimed that if the polls had not been rigged, constitutional supremacy would have prevailed in the country.

He further asserted that the alleged election manipulation resulted in the imposition of “illegal governments”, which he blamed for pushing Sindh into a state of severe decline. According to Sheikh, this has led to dilapidated roads, widespread lawlessness in riverine areas, and unprecedented corruption amounting to Rs3,800 billion.

Reiterating the call for public participation, Sheikh stated that if the nation wanted to see Imran Khan reinstated as prime minister, citizens would have to come out of their homes. He also announced a future province-wide strike scheduled for February 8, 2026, on the call of the Tehreek Tahaffuz-i-Ayeen Pakistan.
