Pakistan, OIC member states condemn Israel’s recognition of Somaliland
- Reaffirm support for Somalia’s sovereignty
Foreign ministers from 23 countries, including Pakistan, Jordan, Egypt, Algeria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye, along with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), issued a joint statement strongly condemning Israel’s recognition of the “Somaliland” region of Somalia on December 26.
The statement described Israel’s move as a blatant violation of international law and a serious threat to peace and security in the Horn of Africa and the wider Red Sea region.
The ministers stressed that such recognition undermines the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, and constitutes a dangerous precedent in international relations.

The joint communiqué also rejected any link between Israel’s action and attempts to displace the Palestinian people, emphasizing that such measures are unacceptable under international law.
The ministers reaffirmed their full support for Somalia’s sovereignty and called on the international community to uphold the principles of the United Nations Charter, which safeguard the territorial integrity of states.
