LAHORE: The Lahore General Hospital (LGH) has achieved a major milestone in healthcare by formally resuming corneal transplant surgeries after a gap of nearly ten years, marking a significant advancement in specialized eye care services.
According to an LGH spokesperson on Sunday, the revival of this highly specialized surgical facility brings renewed hope to hundreds of visually impaired patients. Recently, two deserving patients successfully underwent corneal transplant surgeries at the Eye Unit of Lahore General Hospital, reflecting the institution’s growing capacity to deliver advanced medical treatment.
Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) and Ameer-ud-Din Medical College (AMC), Prof Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal, along with Medical Superintendent LGH Prof Dr. Faryad Hussain, termed the achievement a historic landmark for the institution. They congratulated the dedicated teams of Lahore General Hospital, PGMI and Ameer-ud-Din Medical College for their collective efforts in reviving the service.
