ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday reiterated that the government is continuing all necessary efforts for the welfare, development, and protection of minorities in the country.
In a meeting with a delegation of minority Members National Assembly (MNAs), the prime minister emphasized that minorities are a vital part of Pakistan’s social and economic fabric, and the Constitution of Pakistan guarantees them full religious freedom, equal rights, and protection.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the rights, welfare, and effective role of minorities in the national mainstream. The prime minister assured full cooperation in addressing the issues of the minority community and further strengthening their inclusion in society.
“We are committed to ensuring that minority communities are granted their rights at all levels and actively involved in the country’s development process,” he added.
The members of the minority parliamentary delegation appreciated the government’s efforts for the protection of minority rights and welfare, and thanked the prime minister for his support.
They also briefed him on the challenges faced by the minority community and provided their suggestions for improvement.
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Kheil Das Kohistani, Dr Darshan, Nelson Azimish Isfahan Bhundara, Neelam, Sanjay Prowani, Ramesh Kumar, Naveed Amir, and Ramesh Lal, along with other minority MNAs.
