ISLAMABAD: The Quetta Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) Balochistan and the Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber (PAJC) have agreed to make joint efforts to address the difficulties and challenges faced by the business community, pledging to take all necessary steps within the framework of the law.
This was stated during a meeting attended by Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber representative and Executive Member of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Qazi Zahid Hussain, Chairman of the All Pakistan Bonded Carriers Association Syed Shams Ahmed Barni, and others. Former President of the Chamber Abdul Samad Musa Khel, former Senior Vice President Haji Agha Gul Khilji, former Vice President Muhammad Tahir Khan Chakzai, and other chamber officials warmly welcomed the participants.
The speakers highlighted that under the current circumstances, the country particularly Balochistan’s business community is facing severe difficulties. Due to strained relations with Afghanistan, thousands of transit and export cargo vehicles have been stranded.
They informed the meeting that more than 9,000 transit trade containers are currently stuck in Pakistan. In this regard, letters have been sent to the Ministry of Commerce, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), and other relevant authorities to apprise them of the situation; however, no significant progress has been observed so far.
The chamber officials reiterated their commitment to jointly tackle the challenges faced by the business community. They agreed to hold consultations with chambers and the trader community across the country and to take every possible legal step to facilitate business activities.
