LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that mountains are greatly being affected by climate change, which requires immediate steps for their protection.
In her message on ‘International Mountain Day,’ she said that mountains guarantee ecological balance and beauty of our planet. She added that Almighty has blessed Pakistan with beautiful mountains, whose protection is our national duty.
The CM stressed on the need to create awareness among tourists in order to maintain natural beauty of mountains, as they guarantee protection of our planet. She noted that millions of tourists worldwide visit mountainous areas, which play an important role in economic development of a country.
The Chief Minister said, “We are implementing a master plan to make mountainous areas, especially Murree, a world-class tourist destination.” She added that all illegal hotels and encroachments are being removed in Murree, and there is an immense tourism potential in different areas of Punjab, which is a land of deserts, mountains, lakes and rivers.
