Female population: FCCI, SBP making efforts to make women key part of economy

FAISALABAD: Senior Vice President Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FCCI) Naveed Akram Sheikh has stressed the need to make women an integral part of the national economy and said that State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), other national organizations and FCCI are making strenuous efforts for the mainstreaming of the female population.

Addressing a special function organized by SBP Faisalabad on “Women Entrepreneurship Day”, he appreciated the efforts of SBP to encourage female entrepreneurs through subsidized loans. “Women are 50% of our total population but due to societal taboos, they have been isolated from the economic sector”, he said and added that SBP has introduced innovative strategies to encourage women and exploit their inherent potential for the overall growth of the national economy.

He said that FCCI being a representative trade body of the business community would play its due role to sensitize women by organizing awareness sessions.
