LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that Pakistan’s economy, having recovered from the threat of default, is becoming stable now.

Addressing the foundation stone laying ceremony of Gujranwala Mass Transit System, Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that on November 23, Haripur gave a verdict in favour of PML-N because ‘lies’ have a shelf life. “The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa voted for PML-N by saying goodbye to the politics of lies.”

She highlighted that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had created history in public service and development in Punjab, and now his daughter, who was entrusted with the responsibility of CM Punjab, has started work from where he has left off. She noted that people have always appreciated the leadership and hard work of Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. She added that being aware of the service rendered by Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif she is moving forward with this legacy. She highlighted that he built the first metro in Lahore, and then in Rawalpindi and Multan, and now continuing his work, two more metro projects will be built. After Gujranwala, Faisalabad Metro project will also be launched in a few days.

She said, “We have received a mandate to serve the people, not to sit outside Adiala Jail.” She lamented that Chief Minister KPK goes and sits in front of Adiala instead of sitting in front of hospitals and schools. She underscored that under Punjab Development Program, sewage and sanitation systems are being brought to 38 districts at a cost of Rs. 400 billion. She vowed that after one year, 2-3 feet water will not accumulate in any district of Punjab.

The Chief Minister said that they are giving ration cards to 1.5 million people, out of which 500,000 cards have already been issued. She added that 80,000 scholarships and 100,000 laptops have been given to the talented students, whereas they are ensuring the provision of every facility and need in 49,000 schools within a few months. She underscored that they are building Centers of Excellence in 38 districts, and for the first time, queues have formed for admission in government schools, there is a waiting list of three months, as the standard of Centers of Excellence is no less than Aitcheson. She remarked that they are also building 6,000 school labs across the province to promote science and technology.

She highlighted that Nawaz Sharif is building a medical city on the Ring Road to treat those diseases whose treatment was not possible in Pakistan before. She noted that Institutes of Cardiology have started in Sargodha, Sahiwal and Murree. She underscored that the biggest flood in history came, the biggest rescue, relief and rehabilitation operation was carried out.

Briefing on Gujranwala Mass Transit System, she said that a 31-km-long mass transit corridor is being built in Gujranwala from Aimanabad to Gakkar. Fifteen signal-free corridors and four underpasses will be built. Gujranwala mass transit project will be completed in 12 months with Rs 63 billion. People of Gujranwala are being given better metro buses than Lahore and Rawalpindi. She concluded by saying that she sincerely pray for success in serving the people by following the path of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif.
