ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to significantly expand cooperation in digital transformation, emerging technologies, and ICT innovation, marking an important development in Pakistan’s expanding global tech partnerships.
Salem Alzaabi, the newly appointed Ambassador of the UAE to Pakistan, called on Federal Minister for IT & Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja in Islamabad on Thursday. The meeting focused on accelerating bilateral collaboration in technology-driven development, investment, and modern digital infrastructure.
During the discussion, the Federal Minister highlighted Pakistan’s fast-evolving digital ecosystem, ongoing reforms, and major opportunities for foreign investment in the country’s technology sector. She noted that Pakistan’s young talent pool, rapid startup growth, and pro-innovation policies have positioned it as an emerging global technology destination - a trend also acknowledged in the recent AT Kearney report.
Both sides reviewed potential areas of partnership in ICT, emerging technologies, digital skills development, and capacity building. They also emphasized the vital role played by Pakistani expatriates and tech entrepreneurs in the UAE in fostering innovation, investment flows, and knowledge exchange between the two countries.
Ambassador Alzaabi appreciated Pakistan’s digital progress and expressed the UAE’s interest in strengthening technology-focused collaboration. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to deepen Pakistan–UAE engagement in ICT, innovation, and digital transformation for mutual economic growth.
