KARACHI: The 24th meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) was held on Wednesday, presided over by Chairman of Sindh Planning and Development Commission Najam Shah.
The session reviewed and considered a series of important development schemes across multiple sectors aimed at improving public services, infrastructure, and socio-economic growth in the province.
A total of 8 development schemes from various departments including Local Government, Health, Irrigation, Information Technology, Culture and Antiquities, and Works and Services were placed before the forum for discussion and approval.
The major schemes reviewed included Lyari Transformation Package worth Rs 5000 million; laying and testing of an 800mm pressure line from Khanopota Filter Plant to Shah Bukhari, Qasimabad worth Rs 250 million; rehabilitation of 1,300 RM of road infrastructure in Karachi, including widening of service roads and storm-water drainage upgrades worth Rs 1895.7 million.
Other projects included the restoration and preservation of historic Shah Jahan Mosque, Thatta worth Rs 769.588 million; establishment of Sindh Enterprises Incubation Centers at divisional headquarters to promote innovation and entrepreneurship worth Rs 1,250 million; strengthening and stone pitching of embankments at multiple critical locations, including Rohri Main Canal worth Rs 1500 million; establishment of Burns & Plastic Surgery Ward at Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Institute of Trauma (SMBBIT) Karachi worth Rs 313.747 million; rehabilitation, widening, and reconditioning of key district roads at Kotdiji worth Rs 800 million.
Several schemes were cleared and approved as per the evaluation of the PDWP.
One scheme was approved subject to submission of modified PC-I and CM summary.
The PDWP emphasised timely execution, transparency, and continuous monitoring of all approved projects to ensure public benefit and effective utilization of development funds.
