LAHORE: The Planning and Development (P&D) Board of the Punjab government has approved development funds worth Rs 105 billion for multiple sectors for the fiscal year 2025-26.
The approval was accorded at the 48th meeting of the Provincial Development Working Party on Friday, with P&D Board Chief Dr Naeem Rauf in the chair. The meeting approved a major allocation of Rs 100 billion in seed money for establishing a mass transit system in Faisalabad, while Rs 5 billion were approved to strengthen agricultural research across the province.
The meeting also cleared several position papers, including proposals for setting up business facilitation centers in Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Gujrat and Sargodha, creation of posts for similar centers across Punjab, and technical assistance and third-party validation/digital mapping projects for the industries department. Moreover, position papers related to design and feasibility studies were also approved.
The meeting was attended by Secretary P&D Board Rafiqat Ali, Chief Economist Masood Anwar, members of the Board and officers from relevant departments.
