ISLAMABAD: An increase in the prices of electricity, LPG and cooking oil pushed the inflation further up as the Sensitive Price Index increased by 0.73 percent for the week ended on November 27, 2025.

A major increase is observed in the electricity charges for Q1 (11.11percent), LPG (3.51percent), pulse moong (1.92percent), vegetable ghee 2.5 kg (1.12percent), bananas (0.65percent), cooking oil 5 litre (0.64percent), powdered milk (0.43percent), vegetable ghee 1 kg(0.38percent), cigarettes (0.25percent), firewood and sugar (0.20percent)each, and beef (0.01percent).

On the other hand, a major decrease is observed in the prices of tomatoes (28.39percent), onions (10.08percent), potatoes (4.58percent), salt powder (2.47percent), pulse gram (1.18percent), garlic (1.12percent), eggs (0.75percent), and wheat flour (0.70percent).

During the week, out of 51 items, the prices of 14 items (27.45percent)increased, 12 items (23.53percent) decreased, and 25 items(49.02percent) remained stable. The year-on-year trend depicts an increase of 4.32percent. A major increase is observed in the prices of sugar (44.09percent), gas charges for Q1 (29.85percent), wheat flour (16.35percent), gur(16.24percent), beef (13.46percent), firewood (12.74percent), diesel (11.66percent), bananas (11.27percent), vegetable ghee 2.5 kg (9.17percent), powdered milk (8.64percent), lawn printed (8.29percent), and cooking oil 5 litre (7.61percent).

Similarly, a decrease is observed in the prices of garlic (38.54percent), potatoes (34.96percent), pulse gram (28.96percent), tomatoes (26.64percent), onions (19.05percent), Lipton Tea(17.79percent), pulse mash (14.97percent), electricity charges for Q1 (8.40percent), salt powder (4.23percent)),and LPG (2.54percent).

During the outgoing week, for households spending up to Rs17,732 per month, the SPI-based inflation decreased by 0.09 percent, to 330.88 from 331.17 points.

For the Rs17,732-22,888 bracket, the SPI-based inflation up by 0.99 percent to 330.06, from 326.83 points of the previous week. Those in the Rs22,889-29,517 expenditure group saw a 0.49 percent increase to 351.33 from 349.63 points. For the Rs29,518 to 44,175 bracket, the SPI registered an increase of 0.28 percent, reaching 337.77 compared to 336.82 points previously.

For households with monthly expenditures above Rs 44,175, the SPI recorded a 0.60 percent increase to 335.81 from 333.81 points. Whereas the combined expenditure SPI increased by 0.73 percent to 337.99 points compared to 335.54 points of the previous week.
