Islamabad United extends PSL journey with 10-year contract renewal
- Islamabad is one of the four franchises, including Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, and Peshawar Zalmi, to have accepted PCB’s offers for contract renewal
Islamabad United has announced the renewal of its Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise contract for another 10 years, underlining its commitment to cricket in Pakistan and the development of young talent.
Since its inception in 2015, Islamabad United has championed excellence, innovation, and social responsibility, the franchise said in a statement.
The team was the first in PSL history to adopt data-driven cricket and to launch a metaverse stadium, while initiatives like “United We Tech” have provided startups with a platform to showcase their ideas.
The franchise has also emphasised youth and women’s empowerment, giving opportunities to players such as Roman Raees and Shadab Khan, and promoting female cricketers through training and ambassador roles. Education and environmental conservation have been other key pillars, including campaigns like “One Run, One Tree” and partnerships with WWF-Pakistan for wildlife protection.
Ali Naqvi, Islamabad United, said, “Renewing our contract for the next decade allows us to continue our mission with the same passion and integrity. PSL fans remain at the heart of everything we do.”
It should be noted that Islamabad is one of the four franchises, including Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, and Peshawar Zalmi, to have accepted PCB’s offers for contract renewal.
Only Quetta Gladiators are yet to respond, while Multan Sultans’ current management was not offered a renewal, forcing owner Ali Tareen to step aside.
