Karachi Kings on Tuesday renewed their Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise rights for another ten years, reaffirming what the team management described as its longstanding commitment to Pakistan cricket.

The agreement was finalised after team owner Salman Iqbal accepted the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) renewal offer, ensuring the franchise will remain part of the HBL PSL for the next decade, Karachi Kings said in a statement.

Iqbal was among the PSL’s first investors, having acquired the league’s most expensive franchise rights ahead of the inaugural 2016 season, at a time when international teams were not touring Pakistan.

“In 2015, we stepped up to bring cricket back,” Iqbal said in a statement. He added that the initial investment was an expression of trust in the league’s potential and Pakistan’s cricketing future. “We didn’t just buy a team; we invested in restoring the nation’s cricketing glory.”

Karachi Kings CEO Tariq Wasi welcomed the renewal, saying the franchise had developed a strong foundation over the years.

“We look forward to another decade of progress and growth, not just for the Kings but for the entire PSL ecosystem,” he said. He added that the focus remained on fielding a competitive side, strengthening fan engagement, and supporting the league’s global profile.

The franchise noted that its partnership with the PCB has contributed to strengthening the PSL since its formation, including efforts to bring international cricket back to Pakistan. Karachi Kings stated it has also played a key role in talent development, with several players rising from its platform to the national side.
