LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has set new collection records, registering more than 31 percent growth in the month of October of the current financial year.
According to the PRA, during the first four months of the current financial year, overall tax receipts remained 28percent higher as compared to the same period of last year. The PRA officials claimed despite the fact that no new taxes were levied, nor any increase was made in the tax rate, revenue collection of the Authority continues to show growth, which is a positive development.
The officials pointed out that effective planning and use of modern technology have strengthened transparency in the tax collection system of the Authority.
They expressed the hope that with the expanding use of Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (EIMS) and increased cooperation from the industry, revenue collection is expected to improve even further.
Ongoing registration of unregistered businesses and enhanced enforcement measures are likely to boost collections in the coming months, the officials viewed.
