LAHORE: The Lahore district administration has removed a large number of encroachments across the city during an anti-encroachment operation.

According to the administration on Saturday, during the last 24 hours, they cleared 886 encroachments and seized material was taken into custody. Simultaneously, 3215 banners and flexes were also removed from various areas of the city, ensuring a clean and tidy environment.

“The operation’s objective was to make Lahore an encroachment-free and beautiful city, and to provide citizens with uninterrupted access to wide roads and pathways. The administration was ensuring that the historical beauty of Lahore was restored and public spaces were completely reclaimed from illegal occupation,” the administration said.

Commenting on the operation, District Commissioner Lahore Syed Moosa Raza said that all types of encroachments obstructing the flow of traffic will be eliminated immediately and without any delay.

“This operation would continue indiscriminately and with complete transparency until all encroachments in Lahore were removed. Our resolve was to make Lahore an encroachment-free, clean, and beautiful city,” he added.

Meanwhile, the administration continued with its anti-dengue campaign across the city. The DC personally reviewed the anti-dengue field activities in the Ladhair area of Tehsil Sadar.

He was accompanied by the Additional Deputy Commissioner General, the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore Chief Officer, the Assistant Commissioner Sadar, and teams from the health department.

On this occasion, the health teams briefed the DC that the anti-dengue field squads were fully complying with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and the field workers were ensuring weekly follow-up visits.

They also stated that in case of finding larvae, houses were being marked and stickers were being pasted, while spraying was ensured in 10 houses surrounding the affected location to prevent the spread of dengue. The health teams noted that a significant reduction in the presence of dengue larvae was seen due to the decrease in temperature.

On this occasion, the DC instructed the anti-dengue teams to remain active in the field and that no negligence in SOP compliance will be tolerated. He directed that surveillance should be made more effective and rapid.
