LAHORE: The Punjab government has made 11 ‘Sahulat Bazaars’ functional in different cities of the province, while another five will be completed and made operational in the coming weeks.

These special bazaars, set up to facilitate consumers by providing quality commodities at controlled rates, are functional in Wazirabad, Jaranwala, Chunian, Sharaqpur, Chiniot, Khanewal, Bhalwal, Muzaffargarh, Pattoki, Okara, and Mandi Bahauddin. Consumer-friendly markets in Multan, Vehari, Gujranwala, Manga Mandi, and Begum Kot will also become operational soon.

Secretary Price Control and Commodities Management, Dr. Kiran Khurshid, disclosed this while chairing an important departmental meeting on Thursday. The meeting was attended by Director General, Agriculture Marketing Authority, Tariq Ali Basra, and other senior officials.

The meeting was informed that all markets across Punjab are being equipped with modern facilities. Anti-encroachment cells, help desks, and monthly traffic plans have been established in the markets to ensure smooth operations. Work on cleanliness drives, duty rosters, staff uniforms, and installation of electronic rate boards has also been completed in all districts.

The department’s spokesperson, while giving details of the meeting, added that stalls in Sahulat Bazaars are allotted strictly on merit. He said ensuring consumer rights and providing maximum convenience through “Sahulat” and “Sahulat on-the-Go” bazaars is part of the Punjab government’s vision.
