LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari hosted a luncheon in honour of the visiting Iranian delegation on behalf of the Punjab Information and Culture Department.
The Iranian delegation included vice-president of IRIB & Head of IRIB World Service Ahmad Noroozi, Abbas Mohammadnejad, Morteza Shamsi and Ali Mohammed Nafchi.
Secretary Information Tahir Raza Hamdani and DGPR Fareed Ahmed were also present.
Speaking to the delegation, Azma Bokhari extended a warm welcome on behalf of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, saying:“ The Chief Minister especially instructed before her departure abroad that no effort should be spared in extending hospitality to our distinguished guests from Iran.”
She said that Pakistan and Iran are brotherly Islamic countries sharing deep religious and cultural similarities. She added that Pakistan and Iran will jointly celebrate Allama Iqbal Day, as Allama Iqbal is held in the same high esteem in Iran as he is in Pakistan. “The upcoming Iqbal Day ceremony will, Insha’Allah, be a memorable event,” she said.
She said that the Department of Information and Culture Punjab has worked diligently on the design and preparations of this occasion, with valuable support from the Iranian Consulate General’s Office.
She further said that this celebration will mark a new chapter in Pakistan-Iran friendship. Soon, a delegation of Pakistani journalists — particularly from Punjab — will visit Iran, which will further strengthen media and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
