PM Shehbaz offers Iran cooperation for economic development, trade

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday extended Pakistan’s offer for cooperation to Iran for economic development and bilateral trade, the Prime Minister Office (PMO) said in a statement.

During a meeting between Speaker of Iranian Parliament Dr Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and PM Shehbaz, the PM expressed that “Pakistan is eager to foster cooperation in the fields of mutual interest including economic development and bilateral trade.”

The PMO said Ghalibaf along with a delegation called on the premier in Islamabad, where they were warmly received by the latter. On this occasion, the PM recalled the cordial bilateral ties with the brotherly Muslim country of Iran.

He reiterated firm commitment of both countries for peaceful means of dialogue and diplomacy for resolution of all outstanding disputes around the world.

PM extended utmost reverence to Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and Iranian President Masoud Pazeshkian.

Shehbaz stated that both countries condemned state sponsored terrorism and had always supported each other in the wake of unilateral aggression against their sovereign states.

“Both countries have unfortunately been victim of terrorism and thus firmly share the resolve of global peace, prosperity and positive cooperation in the region,” the PM added.

The prime minister said Pakistan and Iran were determined to work in cohesion and cooperation for unity of Muslim Ummah.

Speaker Ghalibaf expressed his gratitude to the prime minister, government and people of Pakistan for their valued and well-placed support in the recent Iran-Israel conflict. He stated that the support shown by Pakistan in the 12-day war was deeply appreciated and cherished by the people of Iran.

“Iran and Pakistan firmly believe in the unity of Muslim Ummah and in the message of global peace,” he maintained.

While expressing special gratitude to the Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq, the Iranian speaker cherished the positive and robust cooperation between the parliaments of both countries.

He also expressed Iran’s commitment to further enhance bilateral cooperation with Pakistan in the fields of economic development and trade. The Iranian speaker conveyed message of warmth and reverence from Iranian President Pazeshkian for PM Shehbaz and people of Pakistan. He also expressed gratitude for a warm hospitality extended to him during his visit to Pakistan.

NA Speaker Sadiq, and Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Syed Tariq Fatemi also attended the meeting.
