PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has reshuffled his cabinet and assigned the vital and crucial portfolio of the Elementary and Secondary Education to an un-elected Mohammad Asim Khan while Khaleeq-ur-Rehman MPA who was Minister for Excise & Taxation has been allotted the portfolio of Health.

The reshuffle was necessitated in wake of the tendering resignations by the two influential ministers Faisal Khan Tarakai and Aqibullah Khan. Faisal Khan Tarakai, former provincial minister is the younger brother of Shahram Khan Tarakai, a PTI’s affiliated member of National Assembly while the later is the younger brother of another PTI-stalwart former Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser. The development has been occurred after the meeting of the Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur with the incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan at Adiyala Jail. These resignations and reshuffle in the provincial cabinet is an ample proof of the severe differences erupted amongst the ranks and files of the ruling party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Two powerful KP ministers tender resignations

In the reshuffle, Fazal Shakoor, who was earlier minister for labour will now look after the affairs of the Culture, Tourism, Archeology and Museums Department while Pakhtoon Yar Khan, Minister for Public Health Engineering has been assigned the portfolio of Sports & Youth Affairs replacing Syed Fakhar Jehan, who has been assigned the Public Health Engineering Department.

In the meanwhile, Amjad Ali, Special Assistant to KP CM on Housing has been elevated as provincial minister and assigned the same portfolio.

Advisor to KP CM on Health, Ihtesham Ali has been assigned the portfolio of Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control while Zahid Chanzeb, Advisor on Culture, Tourism, Archeology and Museum has been assigned the portfolio of Labour. Similarly, Mohammad Israr, Special Assistant to KP CM on Commerce has been assigned the portfolio of irrigation and Hameed-ur-Rehman, an elected MPA from tribal district Bajuar has been appointed as Special Assistant to the chief minister, whose portfolio will be announced later.
