Sri Lankan shares closed lower on Monday, as losses in IT stocks weighed.
The CSE All Share index settled down 0.36% at 20,575.59. It fell for the third straight session.
Amana Takaful Life PLC and Pegasus Hotels of Ceylon PLC were the top percentage losers on the CSE All Share index, falling 10.9% and 6.1%, respectively. IT stocks fell 2.3%.
Trading volume on the index fell to 133.9 million shares from 181.2 million in the previous session.
Sri Lankan shares slip as IT drags, but notches weekly gain
The equity market’s turnover dropped to 4.41 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($14.6 million) from 5.09 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.
Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 939 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 4.27 billion rupees, the data showed.
