KARACHI: Site Association of Industry (SAI) President Ahmed Azeem Alvi has expressed deep disappointment over the State Bank of Pakistan’s decision not to reduce the policy rate and to maintain it at 11 percent.

He said that it was a good opportunity to bring the policy rate to single digits but unfortunately it was not done. If the policy rate was reduced by even two percent, a positive message would have been sent to the business community.

“Now, when the budget has announced, the government desperately needs good advisors who truly understand the economy and are well aware of the ground realities so that the economy can be stabilized without affecting business and industry. If positive decisions are taken, its positive effects will also be seen and it will be popular with the public,” he said.

He once again expressed hope of bringing the policy rate to single digits in the next monetary policy.
