ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Friday framed charges against six Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers in a case registered against them in connection with May- 9 violence.
ATC judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, while hearing the case, indicted six PTI workers in a vandalism case registered against them at Shams Colony police station. The court has already indicted 42 other accused in the same case. The accused have pleaded not guilty and intend to contest the case.
Defence counsel Sardar Masroof Khan and Zahid Bashir Dar appeared before the court. The court adjourned hearing of the case till July 3.
Meanwhile, the same court also heard two cases related to PTI protest held on March 14, 2023, against PTI founding chairman Imran Khan, PTI vice president Shah Mahmood Qureshi, and party workers.
ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, while hearing the cases registered at Khanna Police Station, remarked that the court has written a letter regarding the production of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan. The court expressed concern that the absence of the party’s founding chairman was causing delays in the progress of the cases.
Lawyers Sardar Muhammad Masroor and Murtaza Toori appeared in court on behalf of the PTI founder and the other accused.
The court adjourned hearing of the case after marking the attendance of the accused appeared that before it.
