KE only Disco using handheld device for meter reading: Nepra

KARACHI: National Electricity Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has said that the KE is the only Disco that is using handheld devices for meter reading.

According to Nepra’s recently issued inquiry report on billing practices in Discos, Karachi Electric (KE) is the only company using handheld devices for meter reading, which are an effective solution at ensuring transparency in the meter reading and billing process.

The report also found that KE’s monthly billing cycles follow the regulator’s guidelines and has observed no lapse from the company in this regard.

Overbilling in violation of Nepra Act: All Discos including KE to face legal proceedings

The inquiry report also shows that no customers were found to have been fleeced by a change of slab or deprived of their protected or lifeline status due to an error by KE in meter reading.

Spokesperson KE stated that the company remains engaged with Nepra to share information and discuss any other points raised by the authority.

True! but they are not meeting 30 days cycle... Sometimes 199 units converted in 200 plus and customers facing 6 months unprotected phase.... This is totally unacceptable

The one unit difference due to late reading means a lot for the consumer. For KE, it's million of rupees revenue

Plz do something about last date we people gets pays after 4 or 5 of the month and the last dates of the bills are 21 or 24 we already paying most expensive price of ke units and still taking money for late due dates it almost near thousand

جناب من۔ کبھی کبھی میٹر ریڈنگ چھٹیوں کی وجہ سے 32 دن کے بعد کی جاتی ھے تب ایسا ھوتا ھے کہ ھمیں ان پروٹکٹڈ کردیا جاتا ھے اور اس غلطی کا خمیازہ زائد ریٹ کی صورت چھ ماہ تک بھگتنا پڑتا ھے۔

K.E is send bills normally each month but if you keep paying it than they will suddenly send a big bomb like normal bill is from 4000 to 8000 but you get a 50000 to 90000 bill in normal mode.when you complain they say pay the bill .it will be adjusted later.tell me how to pay this amount if your salary is around 25000 to 35000?. why not adjust it at the same time when you know you are wrong?.what's the guarantee it will be adjusted?.

KE has always been notorious for its high handedness and most brutal form of social injustices.Their bosses bribe the government to commit these atrocious acts against the downtrodden hapless people of Karachi.The people's Party government is rampantly involved in such heinously cruel act.KE enjoys the licence to crush, extort and kill the innocent laborious poor classes.KE is mischievous Department to creating hatred for the people of Karachi ruthlessly. Our people must rise to uprise against their mercilessly dubious character and amazingly careless scoundrels of our City Karachi.They must b taken to task by the people themselves without reservations and with courageous patriotic feelings to prove their Power unitedly.Hopefully,they will soon b out of their Devilish behavioral patterns.
