LAHORE: Government of Sindh has enhanced collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) to spur pace of SME development in province of the Sindh.

Abdul Rasheed Solangi, Secretary Industry and commerce, Government of Sindh held a meeting with SMEDA experts today at SMEDA head office to discuss prospects of promoting SMEs in the province. Dr. Sarwat Faheem, Managing Director Sindh Small Industries Corporation and Asim Javaid Hashmi, Managing Director Punjab Small Industries Corporation also attended the meeting. SMEDA Team, on this occasion was led by Socrat Aman Rana, General Manager Central Support.

Secretary Sindh Industries Department said that government of Sindh was keen to promote employment opportunities and curb poverty in the province through SME development. He acknowledged the cooperation of SMEDA in this regard saying that a number of the PSDP projects were adding value to various sectors of SMEs through technology and expertise across the province. He assured to extend all possible cooperation in establishment of the SME facilitation center at Karachi as per a current plan of SMEDA.

Earlier Socrat Aman Rana, General Manager SMEDA welcomed the guests and apprised them about services, projects and programs of SMEDA for SME development across the country. He said that SMEDA, since its inception, had been focused on equitable development of SMES in all provinces of Pakistan. The Cluster-based approach has been highly successful to support existing SMEs in different regions of the country, he said.
