Sri Lanka shares end lower as financials, communication services drag

Sri Lankan shares closed lower on Wednesday, driven by the financial and communication services sectors.

The CSE All-Share index settled 1.09% lower at 10,614.46.

Sri Lanka Telecom Plc and Commercial Bank of Ceylon Plc were the top losers on the index, down 1.6% and 2.6%, respectively.

Sri Lankan shares end lower as financials, industrials weigh

Trading volume on the index rose to 56.9 million shares from 37.7 million shares in the previous session.

The equity market’s turnover fell to 920.3 million Sri Lankan rupees ($2.82 million) from 1.35 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

Foreign investors were net buyers, purchasing stocks worth 194.7 million rupees, while domestic investors were net sellers, offloading shares worth 879.3 million rupees, the data showed.
