CHICAGO: Chicago wheat climbed for a second session on Tuesday as worse-than-expected US crop conditions added to global supply concerns already heightened by the war in Ukraine.
Corn and soybeans were also higher, bolstered as US growers weigh last-minute planting decisions.
The most active wheat contract on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) was up 31-3/4 cents at $10.42 a bushel by 11:19 a.m. (1619 GMT). CBOT soybeans added 19-1/2 cents to $16.21-3/4 a bushel, while CBOT corn gained 5-3/4 cents to $7.56-1/4 a bushel. The US Department of Agriculture on Monday afternoon rated just 30% of the US winter wheat crop good to excellent, 10 points below analysts expectations, highlighting drought risks for many US growers.
