LAHORE: Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh and Regional Chairman Mahmood Nadeem Qureshi on Tuesday said that the FPCCI would work together with all trade bodies to increase the country’s export and for reform in the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The business-related policy-making should not be without FPCCI consultation. The Research and Development Desk has been established in the Federation Chamber, and the FPCCI research paper will be released every month. The follow-up desk in the FPCCI has also been set up so that the business community issues can be resolved on a priority basis, they added.

They have expressed these views while addressing a delegation of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) here at FPCCI Regional Office Lahore.

Irfan Iqbal Sheikh further said that the FPCCI information technology conference would be done in May. There is a need to work on the SME sector, the FPCCI and LCCI will also exchange research work to improve industry, trade and economic prosperity.

Regional Chairman FPCCI Muhammad Nadeem Qureshi, emphasized the need to strengthen the contact between the trade chambers and association, that all trade bodies will have to work together to improve the country’s credibility globally. Collaboration among the leading institutions like FPCCI and LCCI will be effective results. To get its proper place globally, the Business Community will have to be compatible with modern requirements, he added.

Nadeem Qureshi suggested that the government consult the FPCCI before the industry and trade policy-making, including the annual budget, which will get many positive results and increase economic activities.

LCCI President Mian Nauman Kabir, Senior Vice President Rehman Aziz Chan and Vice President Haris Atiq said that the business community is working with honesty. Government departments should give respect to the business community. Trade chambers and associations should be included in policymaking. Members of the Lahore Chamber should be given representation in all standing Committees of FPCCI, they says. They further said that the Federation Chambers and Lahore Chamber should work on the National Economic Policy.

Regarding the federal budget for fiscal year 2022-23, Nadeem Qureshi said that the business community should also focus on The Federal Budget 2022-23. It’s the right time for the submission of Pre-Budget Proposals to negotiate with the government before preparing the Federal Budget 2022-23. He pointed out that it would be difficult to negotiate once the federal budget was ready.

Muhammad Nadeem Qureshi assured the LCCI office bearers of full cooperation of the FPCCI and said that FPCCI would extend all possible cooperation to solve the problems.
