HYDERABAD: The Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Mohammad Abbas Baloch has directed all the Deputy Commissioners of Hyderabad Division to ensure the sale of essential commodities on government rates in the holy month of Ramadan in their respective districts, and set a target for procurement of wheat.

This he directed while presiding over a meeting today through video link on wheat procurement, regulation of price of essential commodities in the month of Ramazan and ban on rice crop cultivation, at his office Shahbaz Building.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Fawad Ghafar Soomro, Deputy Director Planning and Development Sanaullah Rand, Director SIDA Mir Ghulam Ali Talpur, Deputy Director Food Hyderabad and other relevant executives of RBOD and LBOD participated through video link.

The Divisional Commissioner said that keeping in view the problem of water shortage and infertility of land, and supply the water to the farmers of tail; Sindh Government has imposed ban on cultivation of rice crop on left bank of river Indus so all DCs personally monitor and implement the government agricultural policy. He added that due to the cultivation of rice administration also face the problems of drainage during Monsoon so all the officers will play their role in preventing the cultivation of rice.

Along with the implementation of this they must provide information to the farmers about alternative crops. He directed the Irrigation Department officers to provide water to the farmers on time so that the farmers could plant alternative crops.

Divisional Commissioner Hyderabad Mohammad Abbas Baloch directed to the DCs that target regarding procurement of wheat and obtains the target under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner be ensured. DC directed the concerned officials to control the price of essential commodities during Ramadan and strict action should be taken against violators of the price and maximum relief should be provided to the public during the holy month, he added.

In the month of Ramadan Bachat Bazaar and farmers markets should also be set up to provide maximum relief to people.

The Deputy Commissioner Hyderabad Fuad Ghafar Soomro briefed the meeting and said that in last month of more than 4 lac 70 thousands fine has been charged against the violators of government price. DCs of all the districts also gave a briefing on the occasion.
