The target of 1 Million enrollments in the Digiskills Training project have been achieved ahead of time, reported the Ministry of IT & Telecom.

The Ministry of IT & Telecom hopes to move Pakistan forward in the future of work technologies through this Digiskills Training project.

The Digiskills Training project is the first largest national training program that has imparted over 1 million free of cost trainings in freelancing skills required to seize opportunities in digital economy.

Pakistan is the world’s fourth largest provider of online freelancers with estimated registered number of online freelancers ranging in several hundreds of thousands. The digital skills global industry, often referred to as online outsourcing, is expected to generate gross service revenue between $15 billion and $25 billion by 2020.

According to the Syed Amin Ul Haque, Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, "We have a large segment of young population in the country and we are trying to equip them with latest knowledge and skills so that well educated and skill based young workforce will contribute towards country's progress and economic prosperity."

The Digiskills Training project aims at not only developing key specialized skills, but also imparting knowledge about various freelancing and other employment and entrepreneurial opportunities available internationally and locally to increase employment opportunities for the youth of Pakistan.
