G-B CEC rejects PPP's criticism on Imran's address, says "it was not a political gathering"

(Karachi) Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shahbaz Khan has rejected criticism by Pakistan Peoples Party regarding Prime Minister Imran Khan's address in the region before the elections, GEO News reported.
The PM had addressed the Gilgit-Baltistan's 73rd Independence Day Parade on November 1.
Responding to criticism, G-B CEC said, "It was not a political gathering." However, he stressed that action would be taken against violation of election rules.
Pakistan People’s Party had submitted complaints to the region's chief election commissioner against Prime Minister Imran Khan for ‘violating’ code of conduct by addressing a rally in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The PPP demanded the CEC to take notice of the violations of election rules and code of conduct.
"The prime minister and a federal minister is running the campaign of their party illegally in Gilgit-Baltistan which is a clear violation of the code of conduct of the elections and a pre-polling rigging," the PPP stated in its complaint.
It stated that the federal ministers are addressing the corner meetings and announcing development projects in the campaign, which is not allowed after the announcement of election schedule.
