ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has reassured Pakistan's continued diplomatic, moral and political support to the people of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir until they get their right to self-determination as promised in numerous resolutions of the UN Security Council. He stated this, while addressing media persons as well as the local population of Azad Jammu and Kashmir at the forward post of Chiri Kot along the Line of Control (LoC), according to the media office of the foreign minister. Defense Minister Pervez Khattak and Special Assistant on National Security Division Moeed Yusuf also accompanied the foreign minister during the visit.

Qureshi said the people of Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir were not alone in their just struggle for their right to self-determination, adding that the people of Pakistan would raise voice and flags in support of oppressed Kashmiri people on Aug 5 to express solidarity with the Kashmiri people on the eve of first anniversary of the Indian illegal and unilateral steps of Aug 5, 2019.

The foreign minister said the struggle would continue until Kashmiri people get their right to self-determination as promised to them by the UN Security Council in its numerous resolutions.

Strongly criticising the continued Indian brutalities in the occupied valley, he regretted that the people of Indian illegally-occupied Jammu and Kashmir were not even allowed to offer Eidul Azha prayers and sacrifice animals.

He said implementation had been started on the action plan to protect the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir from the Indian ceasefire violations along the LoC. Earlier, Foreign Minister Qureshi and Defense Minister Khattak were given a detailed briefing about the LoC situation by the military officials on arrival at Chiri Kot sector, according to a statement issued by the media office of the foreign minister.

It was stated that the foreign minister appreciated the courage, valiance and passion of the soldiers of the Pakistan Army. He said the entire nation was proud of their bravery.

Foreign Minister Qureshi also held a meeting with Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider at the Prime Minister's House, Azad Kashmir, and discussed the situation in Indian illegally-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

They also discussed the strategy to observe Aug 5 as Youm-e-Istehsal [Exploitation Day].

The foreign minister reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to raise the voice of oppressed and unarmed Kashmiri people at every world forum.

Earlier, in a video message before leaving for Chiri Kot Sector of the LoC, along with Defense Minister Khattak, Qureshi said that the Kashmiri people had rejected the Indian illegal steps of 5th Aug.

"Nobody will accept these illegal and unilateral steps," he added.

He said that the Kashmiri people would continue their struggle until they got their right to self-determination.
