Zil Hajj moon will be sighted today in Karachi, its peripheral areas: Fawad Chaudhry

  • On June 15, the minister had announced that moon will be sighted on July 21 and Eid ul Azha will be celebrated on July 31.

Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry has said that the Zil Hajj moon will be sighted today in Karachi.

In a tweet on Tuesday, the minister said the birth of the new moon of Zil Hajj 1441 has already taken place at 10:33 pm according to the standard time of Pakistan. He further said the moon will be sighted today in Karachi and it’s peripheral areas.

He added that as it is cloudy, people can use his ministry’s Ruet application to track the moon’s location.

Eid-ul-Azha to be celebrated on July 31: Fawad Chaudhry

His statement comes before the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting which will take place in Karachi today to sight the moon for Zil Hajj today. The meeting will be headed by Chairperson Mufti Muneebur Rehman.

Chaudhry who has always called for the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to adopt technology, announced last month that Eid ul Azha will fall on July 31.

FedMin for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry is the man of the Cabinet. On a personal note, he is better in the Science and technology than as the PM's spokesman. InshaAllah the moon-sighting will be positive and Zilhajj 01 1441 will be tomorrow. As for the Ruet e Hilal Committee, it has outlived its purpose. Sorry but that's true. Salams
