Coronavirus pandemic: Sindh reports 40 more deaths as cases cross 100,000 mark

  • The total number of recoveries recorded by Sindh stood at 57,627 as 1,254 more patients recovered from the virus in a day

(Karachi) Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has said that 40 more people have died due to the deadly coronavirus in 24 hours. The total number of fatalities in the province have reached 1,677.

Murad said on Thursday that the total number of coronavirus cases in the province has crossed 100,000 after the province reported 1,538 new cases.

He mentioned that 9,860 tests were conducted during the last 24 hours, while the total number of recoveries recorded by Sindh stood at 57,627 as 1,254 more patients recovered from the virus in a day.

Coronavirus cases were on the rise in Pakistan and it was feared that the virus will be at its peak in July. However, a slight reduction in cases was witnessed during July after the government imposed smart lockdown in different areas which were regarded as corona hotspots.

Earlier, the government eased lockdown and restrictions to support economy that led to an alarming increase in number of Covid-19 cases in the country.

On June 11, Prime Minister Imran Khan warned the people and and business community of taking a strict action for violating the standard operations procedures (SOPs) issued by the government to stem the spread of Covid-19.

The PM said he would personally monitor the implementation of the SOPs and receive daily report from the provinces on coronavirus situation.
