Pakistan has decided to open the border with Iran for seven days a week from tomorrow only for trade.

The decision was taken during the National Command and Operation Centre meeting held on Thursday. The Ministry of Interior in a statement said that crossings at Gabd, Mand, Katagar and Chedgi will be opened.

The notification by the ministry further said that entry of an unlimited number of trucks would be allowed following coronavirus-related SOPs and protocols.

Pakistan ‘temporarily’ opens Taftan border to allow stranded citizens to return

The border with Iran was closed on March 17 following the coronavirus outbreak in Iran. However, on June 18, the government decided to open the Taftan border.

It was from this border that people brought this pandemic into our country. I know people are desperate to come home but the SOPs need to be tightened and not used just as a formality to avoid penalties. Human lives are at stake here. The only reason China beat COVID 19 is by taking strict and extreme measures.
