EU 2017/18 soft wheat exports down 23pc at 7.5mn T by Nov. 14

PARIS: European Union soft wheat exports in the 2017/18 season that started on July 1 had reached 7.5 million tonnes by Nov. 14, down 23 percent from 9.7 million tonnes exported by the same stage last season, official data showed on Thursday.

In the latest reporting week, the EU exported 339,000 tonnes of soft wheat based on a revised week-earlier total of 7.2 million tonnes, the data showed.

EU 2017/18 barley exports had reached 1.9 million tonnes by Nov. 14, up 9 percent from 1.7 million a year earlier. Maize imports came to 5.2 million tonnes, 66 percent above the 3.2 million imported by the same stage last year, the data showed.
