The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has successfully concluded the multi-billion rupees 'Double Shah Scam' and recovered Rs 7.4 billion. The decision of Rs 7.4 billion plea-bargain took place in the Accountability Court between the two groups, Sibt-ul-Hasan Gilani and Tassawar Hussain Gillani under the supervision of NAB, the spokesman of the NAB said on Thursday.
The spokesman said that in addition to already recovered Rs 2.2 billion both the groups will have to pay about Rs 2 billion to NAB within 15 days from the date of decision, which will be first week of August 2010. Another Rs 3.17 billion will be given to NAB in the next nine months in three equal instalments, he said.
Both the groups will pledge properties worth Rs 3.7 billion to NAB involving third party and the assets to be released after full payment of said amount is made. There are about 46,000 affectees of Double Shah Scam whose money was plundered and will be repaid to them, the spokesman said, adding that the NAB will complete the process of 100 percent return to 10,000 affectees having up to Rs 100,000 by the second week of August.
At present the payment is being made to 200 affectees per day. Besides, NAB has already made partial disbursements to about 25,000 affectees, he said. It is pertinent to mention here that NAB officials had established camps at different places to make the payments to the affectees at their doorsteps.
