Corps Commander, Lahore, Lieut General Shafaat Ullah Shah, has said that the medical profession is a noble profession in nature, and emphasised that the 'healing hands' of the country strive for service of the people on humanitarian grounds. He was addressing the students of CMH Lahore Medical College on the occasion of their first Annual Day function.
The General, who is also Patron of the College, said that Allah has blessed the professional medics with an opportunity to serve the sick. He said that polite handling and patient audience would earn them gratitude as well as repute beyond imagination.
He said that the purpose for establishing CMH Lahore Medical College was manifold. Apart from improvement of medical facilities for the public at CMH Lahore, that is affiliated as its reading hospital, the aim was also to produce a fine breed of physicians who are imbibed with the dedication and zeal to serve the people of their country selflessly much beyond their personal interests and comfort.
General Shafaat said that institutions are not based on buildings but on faculty members, students and the environment. He appreciated the faculty members for turning the college into a great seat of learning within a short span of time. He lauded the students for their outstanding performance and congratulated them for attaining distinctions in the University of Health Sciences on completion of first year of their professional course.
The Corps Commander reiterated his resolve to bring the college at par with any international professional academic medical institution. He informed the gathering that efforts pertaining to affiliation of the CMH Lahore Medical with Harvard and Johns Hopkins University, USA, were on the verge of fructification.
